2020 was a year that was strikingly different, unexpected and, well, depressing. My word for 2020 was Courage, and it was a necessary component of dealing with this year. Unfortunately, but not surprisingly, I wasn't always courageous this year. There were moments and days of sullen, tears, calamity, and questioning, Yet, as a second thought, it does take courage to cry, to embrace sadness or depression, to question and deal with calamity. It takes courage to rest in sadness and embrace what feels uncomfortable! We tend to try and push uncomfortableness, sadness, loneliness, tears, calamity, depression away. We push away with addictions. We will over eat (the Covid 20), drink too much, buy things we don't need (Amazon makes it so easy), become entangled with drama and unhealthy/codependent relationships, and the list can go on. Yes, I gained the Covid 20 and binge watched too many Netflix series!
2020 can be embraced. Be courageous and rest in the negative aspects of the year. Admit to those moments of desperation, weakness, binging, and addictions that tend to rear their ugly head when we want to push away feelings. Embrace, Admit and Get back up. Try again.
Thank you 2020, truly!
Hello 2021.
